There comes a time when even the strongest, most enthusiastic and motivated football team must eventually come to terms with the brutal truth of a cosmically indifferent universe. When their team is decimated by injury and the capriciousness of fate; when their entire division is made up of teams that have descended from on high to toy with the minnows below; and when your team belatedly realises, with the crushing finality of a falling coffin lid, that instead of us waiting to play the whipping boys in the division, everyone else is thinking that about us. This match was amply summarised by a player as we walked off at full-time: “Well that was F***ing Horrible.”
Enough said.
Final result: Barnstoneworth Utd D South 0 – 5 Umina.

The 2017 Season launch (indoor because of the recent monsoonal weather) tournament turned into a successful and enjoyable afternoon.
We had enough players for 4 teams of 7 or 8 (I can’t remember… Maybe it was both?) and the format was 10 min games, full court. The ref stamped his authority early on and probably made history when he brandished a yellow card to a bemused Read more
