Our inaugural trip to visit and play Barnstoneworth Orange was a historic occasion for both clubs. The beautiful NSW town of Orange did not disappoint with a perfect playing surface for our game, great weather, fantastic brewery’s, pubs and grub and finished off with a day at Towac Park Racecouse.
In season 2023 Barnstoneworth United Central Coast has raised over $1800 in support of football community charity group, United In Football Central Coast.
United In Football Central Coast was formed to raise money to support our Football Community. The Committee consists of enthusiastic volunteers who are current or former footballers.
Many still play in the Womens Open and Mens Over 35 & 45 Central Coast Football Competitions. United In Football is committed to supporting sick or injured football “family” members who need a helping hand. This can both financial or just through having the support of others in an emotional or social sense.
United In Football raises funds through social events designed to bring people together in enjoyment of our great game…football.
In a dominant display of soccer, Barnstoneworth recorded a resounding 12-0 victory over Gwandalan in a one-sided affair.
The match started off with the home team showing their attacking intent from the outset. They pressed high up the field, constantly putting their opponents under pressure and restricting them to their own half. The first goal came within the first ten minutes, as Marcelo, with his third attempt at goal, finished off a slick passing move to put his team ahead.
The home team continued to dominate possession and create chances, with their midfielders controlling the tempo of the game and Thang winning every header, like a leaping salmon. The second goal came soon after, with a well-placed shot from outside the box finding the bottom corner of the net. The away team tried to fight back, but their efforts were thwarted by the home team’s solid defence.
As the game progressed, the home team’s dominance only grew stronger. The third goal came from a clinical counter-attack, as James sprinted down the flank and crossed the ball for Frank to tap in from close range. The away team struggled to cope with the relentless attacking pressure, and the fourth and fifth goals came in quick succession, with the home team’s midfielders orchestrating the attacks and providing pinpoint passes.
The second half saw Barnstoneworth continue their dominance, as they added more goals to their tally. Gwandalan were simply outclassed, as BUFCs attackers ran riot and the defence held firm. The sixth goal came from a well-placed header from a corner kick, while the seventh was a long-range screamer that left the away team’s goalkeeper with no chance.
Our supporters were in raptures on the sidelines as their team continued to pile on the goals. The eighth and ninth goals came from quick counter-attacks, with the away team’s defence unable to keep up with the pace of the home team’s attackers. The tenth goal came from a beautifully placed free-kick, while the eleventh was a tap-in from close range after a goalmouth scramble.
The home team saved the best for last, as the twelfth goal came from a thunderous volley that flew into the top corner of the net. The away team was left shell-shocked, as they had no answer to the home team’s attacking prowess.
In the end, it was a comprehensive victory for the home team, as they recorded a 12-0 win over their opponents. The attackers were in scintillating form, while the defence held strong to keep a clean sheet, with Lance catching hypothermia.
5 goals to Frank with Nathan, Hillsy, Nick, Tom, Marcelo and Chris from 35c within 20 secs of coming on as a sub, also contributing to the rout. We were without Benny, Fauldsy (Soy!) and Arnie so when those boys are back, we’re going to be a force to be reckoned with!!!
Final Score: Barnstoneworth 12 bloody 0 Gwandalan
Barnie Goals: Frank Budde (5), Marcelo Burke, Nick Conroy, James Foster, Tom Reilly, Paul HIlls, Nathan Cassidy, Chris Cummings
MOTM: Frank Budde
Rain greeted the 45BC return to Duffys after many years away. A newish Terrigal team got stuck straight into us from the whistle and after 20 mins of pressure a cross sneaked through to the back post where they converted it. Read more
We had a lack lustre first 15 mins with a bit of ball watching and inaccurate passing and not tracking our players. This resulted in Umina scoring their first 2 goals. What certainly did not help our cause was having Neil and Graeme sustaining injuries within the first 5 minutes resulting in them being sidelined. Read more
The 45A2’s kicked off their campaign by travelling to a very soggy James Browne oval to face SEU in our round 1 fixture. Whilst our opponents were new to the comp this season, it became rapidly apparent that this was a team made up of former 35A grade and Premier League players, meaning we were likely in for a tough game. That certainly proved to be the case once the match got underway, although we were able to hold fast for the opening 10 minutes before Southern opened the scoring, with a well worked goal, with them adding a second five minutes later.
