BUFC B North vs East Gosford Match Report

Round 3 saw Barnstoneworth 35BN’s hosting East Gosford at Duffy’s oval, with a later kick off of 3.10PM seeing the game played in more comfortable temperatures.

After our disappointing performance against Berkeley Vale, it was clear that the guys were keen to atone and we were pleasingly on the front foot right from the kick off, which saw us very quickly in control of the game. Shane opened the scoring with his debut goal on 10 minutes after a good solo run and finish, whilst filling in up front for the absent Jorge. Our second goal must surely be a contender for BUFC Goal of the Season, with Frank catching a goal kick fully on the volley from just inside their half and rifling it into the opposite corner from at least 40 metres! The fact that one of the East Gosford centre backs came over and high-fived Frank says it all, as it really was a very special strike. Another debut strike from Thang, saw us looking like heading to the break 3 up, before we mistakenly allowed one of our opponents to try a 20-metre speculator that somehow found the
top corner, which was very disappointing.

The second half saw us continuing to press our opponents at every opportunity and a further goal each from Frank and Shane, saw us run out comfortable 5-1 winners, with the only disappointment being our failure to keep a clean sheet.

Special mention must go to our back-ups this week in Lee Akers, Benni Joseski and Chris West, who all contributed hugely, given the number of our absentees this week.

Despite Frank’s amazing goal, the man of the match award went to Shane for the second week running, whilst the Scrotum medal went to Lee “my right foot’s only for standing on” Self.
