Killarney Vale vs BUFC 45A
Well yet again we are on our travels, this time against Killarney Vale at Jubilee Oval. Oh what a pleasure it would be to actually get a game at our own ground!
It was a depleted injury ridden 45 A’s that travelled to Killarney Vale, and with Brad Finch & Rob Scott away and Mark Wheatly our own resident paramedic on shift, we again had to rely on back up from the 35b’n squad i.e. Shaun Roper, Mark Leadbeater, Phil Skidmore & Neal Tardidis ( sorry about the spelling Neal ). It was a very competitive game from the onset with both teams trying to gain the upper hand, and both team creating chances forcing both keepers to pull off some great saves (Khal Sadiq our keeper kept us in the game). Phil Lisle ( man of the Match ) and Duncan Stone took control of the midfield. Phil was winning every loose ball. Duncan, his first game back after injury, had to withdrew after 30 mins with a re-occurance of the injury which meant a change information. Half time came with the game in the balance at 0-0 with a couple of more blows to our squad with Denis Gardiman, foot injury, and Dan Waddington, illness, had to withdraw from the second half. A good job Nigel ward from the 45B’s had stayed behind and offered to step in.
With a depleted squad we again held our own in a very competitive but fair game from both sides, again with both keepers keeping both teams alive with some great saves, but with 5 subs Killarney Vale began to get the upper hand. The Barnstoneworth boys had given their all but with no subs left we began to lose a bit of control, and with a corner, the defence lost the striker which gave him a free header into the net. We gave it our all in the last 15 mins and created a couple of good chances to equalise but the ball just would not fall our way.
A great effort by all a 1-0 loss really did not show the effort the boys put in. Thanks again to those that had played their own game before and backed up for us.
Result 0-1
Man of the match Phil Lisle
