BUFC D’s vs Gosford
This week the Dashing D’s set anchor off the dangerous waters of Gavin Lock Oval for a skirmish with the ever tough Gosford. Missing a snotty Gloria (bless!) Dellboy (big wuss – moving house) and Woodsy (condolences from all), we faced a much weakened opposition fielding only 9 guys and missing several key players. Consequently (12 letters) 90% of the action was in their half but fair credit to our opponents (9 letters) they frustrated (10) us for long periods before John scored a scorcher followed by a typical poachers goal from leading gun Ed. (actually can’t remember either goal but always best to big them up) Half-time 2-0 to HMS Barnstoneworth.
The 2nd half was much the same with plenty of possession but somewhat un-cohesive (11) play in the last 3rd though respect to the Gosford goalie who was in fine form. However Bill thumped in a tremendous header from a corner and Scott smashed in his debut goal to complete a fine 4-0 win and very pleasingly a 3rd consecutive (11) clean sheet for Baldrick.
Man of the match (just pipping Scott) was Jess with a fine display down both flanks.
Next Saturday the Good Ship Barnstoneworth (D brigade) sets sail for the dangerous East Gosford from whence BUFC originated I believe – Rudy? (“a message to you” la la ….etc ) – will be like the penguins in Madagascar returning to the South pole or a Rastaman visiting Ethiopia – quite relevant with Matisyahu in town (top class spiritual Bob Marley-like assidic jew rasta reggae dub fella very popular in Canning Town and New Zealand on the off chance someone didn’t know!). Anyway a great but difficult opportunity for the D’s to cement a place in next months finals and also an opportunity to outflank leaders Woy Woy – don’t be late!!!
