BUFC D Vs Ourimbah

Ourimbah D’s vs Barnstoneworth D’s 3:15PM May 16th at Ourimbah with lots of trains going by for Aaron to get excited about. (don’t ask)

A fine sunny afternoon in downtown Ourimbah saw a depleted and reshuffled Barny army start well with good early possession on the tiniest of pitches. However we were suddenly 1-0 down as their left winger suddenly broke through our ranks and thumped in a goal from the edge of the box and then they hit the crossbar from 30 yards. Their only 2 forays into our half and we were almost 2-0 down. Suddenly Ourimbah were down to 10 men with one of their guys seeing red after an altercation with Mark Butler which reduced their attacking intents and packing their defence. We created numerous chances with John and Dell toiling up front, Andy nibbling away down the left, Denis threading passes around and Davey Thomas sneaking in down the right for a few chances but no breakthrough.

2nd half was much the same till from nowhere Delboy unleashed a sidewinder (poked home from close range) for the equalizer. It looked like we were heading for a draw with Ourimbah mostly sitting back and though we kept our shape and composure we never looked like stealing a win till John came up with a cunning plan. Wack a shot at 200 KPH towards the corner post instead of the goal and use Andy Stuart to deflect the ball into the net – class. 2-1 to us, yet another late win and our 4th on the trot – not our best but a tenacious, composed team effort.

Joint man of the Match was our central midfield pairing of Stevie Gerrard and Frank Lampard,

Denis and Rob .

Come on the Mountains next week!
