BUFC A vs The Entrance
Venue- Pat Morley Oval
BUFC travelled up the road to Pat Morley Oval to play the organised and competitive Entrance side.
BUFC started brightly and had a couple of early half chances which we failed to convert.
The Entrance soon got into their familiar passing game and dictated long passages of play without really creating any clear cut chances.
From a well worked move down the left hand side Neal ‘lily-white’ Hide was deliberately brought down in the penalty area and for the second match running the referee ruled no penalty.
With half time approaching a mix up between Robbie and Darren gave The Entrance a golden opportunity to break the deadlock but the pass was intercepted and cleared by Gordy.
Half-time Score The Entrance 0 – Barnestoneworth 0
The Entrance started the 2nd half very spiritedly and continued to pressure and seemed to sense that the game was there for the taking, however the BUFC defended resiliently.
BUFC were forced to camp in their own half for 20 minutes due to the constant pressure and a couple of fine saves from Darren and a clearance off the line by Robbie ‘beds are burning’ Carlisle kept BUFC hanging on.
After absorbing relentless pressure BUFC seemed to have worn the opposition down and in the final 20 minutes started to get on top of the opposition and create opportunities.
From a corner Yatesy tested the keeper with a header and Gavin hit the post after out pacing the opposition centre back.
Both teams created good chances but failed to grab a decisive winner.
This turned out to be a highly entertaining 0-0 draw in front of the very vocal Entrance fan base.
Although not at our best today the team produce a very solid rear guard defence to thwart a good Entrance performance.
BUFC remain unbeaten after 3 matches and this is the best start to a campaign since joining A grade 6 seasons ago.
Acting coach Ashley ‘Rednapp’ Burford was pleased to come away with a point on his coaching debut.
Final Score The Entrance 0 – Barnestoneworth 0
Man of the Match: Neal Hide
